Last week, ÞG verk ehf. new apartments that the company has been building at Álalækur in Selfoss. There are a total of 57 apartments in three apartment buildings. The apartments are 2-6 rooms from 60 to 120 square meters in size. The first building with 23 apartments has already been handed over to the owners. There are only three apartments unsold. The apartments come with electric charging stations that residents can use to charge electric cars. The apartments are at a considerably lower price than e.g. in the capital area and therefore a respectable option for many.
Sindri Már Guðbjörnsson is the construction manager at ÞG verk and works on the project together with Brynjar Erni Áskelsson. They are on the local management team.

“As soon as we started construction, we started piling in these charging stations. I was very interested in solving that problem. We are a big player in the construction market and have sometimes encountered problems related to this that we have had to solve. There is a lot of pressure on these pipelines and they are connected to private property meters. It can knock out when there are a certain number of cars. Then there is not enough electricity for everyone in the house. So we had to find the best possible way to make this happen. We started by laying a bunch of sports tubes that ended up in one sports tube. We got in touch with Ísorka and have also worked with Árvirkjann here in Selfoss. We developed this solution that we have here for these blocks. We are very happy with it, “says Sindri Már
Sindri Már moved from the capital area to Þorlákshöfn and does his job from there. “The plots are much cheaper here and apartments much cheaper than in the town. By offering that you can charge your car at home, you can buy an electric car and an apartment at a favorable price. Then you can work in the town and save 10-15 million. It depends on where you are viewing a large apartment. If we aim e.g. at Valsreitinn, where a two-bedroom apartment costs 40 million. Here it costs 26.7 million. The new Nissan Leaf costs just over 3 million. So there we are talking about 30 million. You save 10 million. “
“The first apartment building we built here in Álalæk 17 is actually completely in usage. There are only three apartments out of twenty-three unsold. Ten apartments in Álalæk 15 have been sold, which we are going to finish this March. Álalækur 13 is not for sale, but we have sold one apartment there. It goes on sale this January. “
What makes the apartments that ÞG works building in Selfoss special is the electricity component and also the bathroom units. Sindri Már says that so far no one has returned a new apartment building with charging stations like ÞG verk is doing in Selfoss. “This is i.a. done this way because there is often a quarrel in residents’ associations about who should pay what. The cost of more charging stations is relatively small and we are delivering higher quality with this. With so many charging stations, the dispute over charging stations is actually knocked off the table. There are three charging stations for this new building and two can very easily be added. Two cars can be connected to each charging station. There are six parking spaces in use now, but the possibility of ten parking spaces for 23 residential houses, “says Sindri Már.
